| The Robonova-1 humanoid robot kit from Korean RC-servo company Hitec was introduced to the Japanese market a year after the KHR-1 humanoid robot kit was first launched from competitor company Kondo. Hitec engineers were very much inspired by KHR-1 to the extent that many of the Robonova-1 building blocks seem to be almost identical to its rival. Nevertheless, Robonova-1 is an evolution from KHR-1. It is easier to build, its software is more comprehensive, and it looks and feels a bit less like a bunch of servos hacked together by some aluminum brackets. Robonova comes in a very nicely planned and finished box about 30x40x10cm weighing about 4kg. The CE logo appears on the side of the box. It means that Hitec have taken the European market seriously and expect to sell many hundreds of units in the European Community. Ages 14+ The Robonova-I offers educators, students and hobbyists an advanced and stable humanoid robot that can walk, run, do flips, cartwheels, dance moves and, once programmed, is ready to compete in any Robo One Class J competition! This fully articulating, 12" high, mechanical man is controlled with 16 powerful HSR-8498HB digital servos built specifically for the ROBONOVA-I by Hitec. The custom gold anodized metal servo brackets serve as a strong and lightweight exoskeleton. ROBONOVA-I also features durable plastic body case components that protect the control board and battery from damage. Powering the ROBONOVA-I is a 5-cell NiMH rechargeable battery that delivers around 1 hour of operational time.

Robonova-1 SupportCheck out this cool Robonova Video: ROBOTICS - a fascinating new world which you can now experience at first-hand. With the help of detailed step-by-step instructions you assemble the kit components to produce a working humanoid robot of the kind only usually found in universities and research institutes. The set includes all the software required to allow you to bring the robot to purposeful life - even if you are a complete beginner. The Robonova-I offers educators, students and hobbyists an advanced and stable humanoid robot that walks, runs, dances does flips and cartwheels. Simple to get startedExpandableThe HardwareROBONOVA-1 really is a 'hard case'. Specially treated eloxided aluminium parts provide the essential strength in the connecting elements, and give the ROBONOVA-1 its characteristic high-quality appearance. The plastic components are made of an extremely high-quality material which provides all the robustness required for daily use. 16 HSR-8498HB digital servos feature over-voltage current protection, Karbonite gear and 'feedback' technology. The extensible MR-C3024 board can operate up to 24 servos and 16 accessory modules. Optional compatible sensors include gyros, distance, acceleration, fire in addition to Speech synthesis, Bluetooth and R/C transmitters and receivers. Programming utilities upload your programs to the robot via a PC interface cable. RoboScript allows the novice to create operational routines with the click of a mouse. RoboBasic is based on the Basic programming language containing routines to interface with all the I/O that the controller board offers. RoboRemocon enables the IR controler to activate pre-programmed Scripts. The "catch and play" function allows moving the robot into any position and "capturing" that position. The software then links these captured positions and smoothly transitions the robot's movements through them. An active internet community forum of Robonova-I gurus can be found on forums.robosavvy.com where you can learn how to add hand-grippers, retrofit a chainsaw, or add hip-rotation capability and download martial arts movements. Robonova-I is powered by a 5-cell, NiMH rechargeable battery that delivers around one hour of operational time. The included MULTIcharger 810WWC is a micro-controller based automatic battery charger.
