JCM Inventures Chloroplast Solar Engine Kit

The Chloroplast Solar Engine is an elegant and efficient solar engine capable of driving large toy motors with bursts of energy. It is the heart of the Solarly and Sunflower Power Plant.

The kit contains the following: an MC34164 P-3 Voltage Trigger, an MPSA12 Darlington Transistor, a Motor, a 2200 uF Capacitor, a Sunceram Solar Cell, 2 x 100K Resistors, a Printed Circuit Board and 6 inches of wire.

Equipment required for assembly: soldering iron, long nose pliers, wire cutters, wire strippers.

Approximate assembly time: 1-2 hours.

JCM CYBUG Scarab artificial life form kit.

The CYBUG KIT is designed to behave and appear insect-like, and has full obstacle avoidance and reversing motors.

The robo-organism is nocturnal ( most active at night ) and can be configured to be photo-tropic ( light seeking ) or photo-phobic ( light avoiding ). A quick adjustment of the potentiometer causes the CYBUG to behave aggressively as a predator, or timid and slow moving like a herbivore. No two CYBUG are exactly the same and you will come to recognize the unique characteristics of each!

The CYBUG's behavior can be enhances by adding on the Higher Brain Function daughter-boards: The HUNGER ( HBF-1 ) and PREDATOR (HBF-2).

Instruction manual discusses operation of CYBUG and all components used at a novice level.

Hunger behaviour add-on kit for JCM CYBUG Scarab artificial life form.

The HBF-1 HUNGER instinct gives your CYBUG herbivore behavior! It continually monitors the energy level of it's battery/energy source and causes the robot to be attracted to light when hungry (where a feeding station may be found) or attracted to the safety of the dark when it needs no recharging.

Predator behavious add-on kit for JCM CYBUG Scarab artificial life form.

The CYBUG SCARAB Predator Module ( HBF-2) contains a sensitive Infra-red receiver board for the "attacking" CYBUG and a 40 kHz IR emitter"scent" board for the prey CYBUG.

Once installed, the predator will lay in wait until an unsuspecting PREY CYBUG wanders within a few meters. If the opportunity is right, the PREDATOR will than race after and contact the PREY CYBUG.

JCM CYBUG Sunflower Power Plant kit for feeding you CYBUG scarab.

The Cybug Sunflower Power Plant is the bottom of your Cybug's ecosystem food chain.

These synthetic plants follow the sun, continually charging up the on-board storage elements to maintain it's own existence and/or provide energy for other robots in the Cybug colony.

Even without the rest of the colony. the Power Plant makes a very active and interesting addition to any windowsill.
